Laurie,

I just wanted to thank you and Clint for making our fishing trip as enjoyable as it was. Scott and I agree that we could not have chosen a better destination to spend our vacation. The morning that we arrived you provided us with a hot breakfast even though we booked a house keeping package and had us out on the lake fishing within an hour of us arriving at camp.

Clint provided us with some excellent fishing spots and tips that paid off in a big way "45" Northern kind of way" Scott and I wanted to keep fishing Favourable Lake (fantastic lake) but Clint talked us into fishing North Trout. Once we arrived at the spot that Clint provided us with, right from the 1st cast of that morning that produced a 40" Northern to the last cast of the day. I personally never have seen anything like that in my life. We must have caught 25 fish that day between us that weighed in the neighbour hood of 10 to 20 pounds. That's not even counting the countless follows that we had.

The home style atmosphere that you and Clint provided us from the time that our plane landed and you and Clint greeted us at the dock to our farewell at the same dock was remarkable. For all of this we thank you and we will no longer be experimenting with any other fishing camps for we have found the ONE at Way North Lodge

PS: Thanks for the sun screen and tell Clint I went to game six and had to watch the Mighty Red Wings skate around our ice with Lord Stanley and to keep his fishing hot spots to himself until we return in 2 years.

See ya in 2 years.

"2007 was the first year my son Eric and I had fished in Canada. We had a great experience at the Way North Lodge. On top of the great fishing we enjoyed hearty shore lunches, home-cooked meals, and excellent accommodations. The owners and staff at the Way North Lodge made our first Canadian fishing trip a memorable adventure!"

I have fished walleyes and northerns throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, Manitoba and extensively in Ontario, but never have I had a trip that would compare with the one to Way North Lodge. This is truly a fisherman's paradise. I caught a 48", 44" and tons of 25-35" northerns. My three sons and I caught 85 walleyes between 2 & 4 lbs. in less than an hour.

The only thing that surpasses the fishing is the hospitality and great service you receive from Clint and Laurie Perkins. Laurie's cooking is second to none. Clint's quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will light up every day. Don't miss out on this experience!!! Sincerely,

Dear Clint and Laurie,

Mike and I had another memorable fishing trip this past August. We have been to several other lodges in Canada and keep coming back to Way North. It's clear to us that you and your staff strive to go "above and beyond" to make sure that each guest has a first class experience. You have a knack for creating a family atmosphere with all of the guests in camp. The fishing is hard to beat as you have five quality lakes to choose from. The toughest decision for us is to pick the lake to fish on. The cabin was clean and Laurie's elaborate dinner feast always hits the spot after a long day on the lake. Thanks for taking good care of us. We look forward to coming back.

Hi Clint and Laurie

My most memorable fishing day was one cold early morning, when in a period of about four hours, I landed 22 (twenty two) lake trout. When we returned for lunch, another group of fishermen heard about my catch. They began to ask what (secret) lure I was using. I told them the particular lure cost about $5.00 back in the U. S., but that I was willing to part with it here at Way North for $50.00. I had no takers and my great fishing success continued the rest of the stay.

I was also very delighted with Laurie's freshly baked breads and desserts. The rest of your menu was varied and exquisitely prepared. The whole trip is one that I will cherish the rest of my life.

Looking forward to see you in 2008

Since 2004 I have been a guest both in the spring and the fall, at Way North Lodge on South Trout Lake. During this time you were the managers of the lodge and have recently taken over the ownership of the lodge.

I found the lodge to be very well run. The lodge was clean and comfortable and the food excellent. I would recommend this lodge and have to anyone seeking a well-run lodge offering comfortable accommodations, excellent food, and most of countless numbers of Walleye, Northern, and Lake Trout along with Clint's excellent shore lunch.

I wanted to once again thank Clint and Laurie for a wonderful fishing vacation for our family this past summer. The year before, my husband, son, and his friend were up for the first time on a fishing trip. They loved it! I didn't hesitate when they asked me to join them again this year. When we flew in to the camp, the first day, Clint and Laurie welcomed us at the dock, and we all enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal of baby back ribs that night. We looked forward to Laurie's gourmet meals each evening topped off with her homemade bread and mouth watering desserts. Her breakfasts were just great too!! She made a separate meal for my son who doesn't like eggs for breakfast and thoughtfully packed him a breakfast to go on the day we left, when she heard that he wanted to sleep in and missed breakfast. Fishing was just terrific! We had two boats each day and alternated so we could change off fishing with one another with either Clint or Dennis as our guides. They were so accommodating and knowledgeable, I was impressed. We caught some 44 inch Northern Pike and 24 inch Walleye right away the first couple of days on Favourable Lake. The Walleye shore lunches tasted so good each day, and the view of the falls was beautiful on our last day! We were happy with the sizes and the amount of fish we caught each day. My husband remarked that you know you are going to catch fish when you are here in this northern remote unspoiled area. I would definitely recommend Way North Lodge to anyone who wants to have the thrill of reeling in lots of fish each day, and some really big fish I might add!! With a resort like this, you look forward to the next time you can return. I will be sending some pic's along to share with you from our trip. It was really memorable, thanks to all of you!!

Laurie and Clint:

Thanks for making our vacation this year so memorable. Everything in your camp was first class. Our cabin was clean, stocked with the refrigerated items and ready when we arrived. Our meals were very tasty, with big portions and variety, and served so that our daily activities could start on time. The guiding was special, and the help was above and beyond the call of duty. The fishing was great for both quantity and quality. We caught tons of walleyes and many large northerns. The lake trout were especially fun to catch.

Your camp is different from others in that it gave us big time fishing with a small camp feel. We got all the attention and care that a remote camp should provide. I would not hesitate to recommend Way North to anyone who wants to experience real Canadian fishing.

Thanks again and see you next year! Sincerely,
Bob Reeves and family

To whom it may concern

In the Fall of 2003 my three brothers, my only son, and one of my son-in-laws decided to all take a trip the following June on a remote Canadian fly-in. I began the process of searching the Internet to find possible locations. We narrowed it down to 3-4 places and then began asking friends of ours who had made similar trips to Canada in the past if they knew anything about these places. Two different people had experiences with Way North and both said it was an outstanding fishery but had dubious ownership over the years, but that in about 2001-2002 ownership had changed and it was a very well run camp. So, we booked a cabin for 6 for the first week of June in 2004.

It was then that we met Clint and Laurie Perkins for the first time. Clint ran the camp - boats, motors, generators, equipment, portage vehicles, maintenance and Laurie ran the kitchen, meals, wait staff, and cabins. We had an absolutely fantastic time, totally exceeding our expectations. As promised, the fishing was great, but what really made the trip was the excellent operations skills of both Clint and Laurie. Everything happened on time and was delivered as promised. When situations arose that were not expected, as they always do at a remote site, they were promptly fixed and everything put back on schedule. The meals and service were 5 star and the equipment and facilities were perfect. The Perkins exhibited both a knowledge and passion for running a camp like this…friendly and customer focused. It was a true remote Canadian experience for all of us. At the end of the week when departing, we immediately booked the first week in June for the following year (2005).

On the 2005 trip, the six of us had an exact repeat of the time we had on the 2004 trip…again, due to the diligence and hard work of Clint and Laurie. At the end of the week, when departing, we immediately made reservations for June 2006…this time for 8 instead of six, because I had acquired another son-in-law and one of my brothers wanted to bring his son who had just turned 18. In addition, one of my brothers and myself took a short 4 day trip to Way North in the late Fall of 2005.

All I can say is that in our opinion, it just can't get any better than the experiences we have had. These people know what they need to do to make it happen and then go about doing it. If anyone wants to contact either me or any other member of my family to ask further questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Sincerely,

Clint has guided me for bull moose and fall fishing the past five years and I've also been fishing with him as my personal guide on at least three other summer fishing trips to Waynorth. Clint is one special guy. He is outstanding as a guide, outdoorsman, tent-camp and shore-lunch cook and wants to see his guests have a great trip. (However, don't let Laurie leave her kitchen as she is a great cook.) Lately, he has had the camp to run so I rely on him to select fishing guides for my group since we like the convenience of having someone else to handle our boat.

All through high school and both times I went to college, I worked the summers as a professional fishing guide for other lodges, which were south of Way North Lodge. From time to time I would get customers that had been to Way North Lodge. It put me in a difficult situation as a fishing guide because all they talked about was how much better the fishing was at Way North. Even though the fishing was fantastic by most lodge's standards, my customers that had already experienced Way North in the past felt disappointed with the fishing I had to offer them. You can bet they went back to Way North because I would never see them again.
